Led by Homes, Consumer Confidence Shines

Consumer confidence registered an increase in July, the University of Michigan, which tracks the indicator, says.

Americans' attitudes toward home buying were especially positive, according to the report. "Home buying plans . . . gained strength from the expectation that home prices would rise even more in the future," explained survey director Richard Curtin.

When queried about their views on home buying, consumers pointed to high home prices more frequently and low property prices less frequently than any other time in the last 20 years.
